Lost Train Lines #6 Red Hill Railway line

I can hear holiday makers on the Mornington Peninsula everywhere wailing after they've read that a train line once used to run from Bittern to Red Hill.

Yes, yes a bus line isn't quite the same.

In existence only from 1921 until 1953, the line consisted of 3 stations at Balnarring, Merricks and terminating at Red Hill.

Think of leaving the car at home and the bussed winery tours that could have been, if only...!

Most of the line is now on private property while the right-of-way is now an equestrian trial.

Tissues are over there arrow
