Yes, yet another closed railway line, and given the increasing number of tourists and local residential growth on the Mornington Peninsula, one has to wonder "what on earth were they thinking?!".
The Mornington line branched off at good old Stony Point at Baxter station, ran through 5 stations Moorooduc,Tanti Park, Narambi,Stopping Place 16 finishing at Mornington, and was chugging along in existence from 1889 until 1981.
In 1984 along came the Mornington Railway Preservation Society who've not only run the Mornington Tourist Railway but who've done the hard yards and hard yakka restoring the line and rebuilding the Mornington station, with a near-future restoration of the line between Moorooduc and Baxter.
